Templars in West London!
I would never have thought it. The Ancient and Noble Order of the Knight’s Templar has been in West London all this time. On Tuesday, a large advertisement appeared in the Daily Telegraph applauding the Vatican for restoring the reputation of the old Templar Knights. It concluded thus…
“…this Order now calls on Templar Commanderies, Bailiwicks, Provinces and any and all such Templar groups and “Brothers in Arms” throughout the world to contact us… with a view to the renewal of the Order of the Knight’s Templar worldwide.”
Now if I was a full time journalist I would have taken the short trip to West London and knocked on the door. I’m not and, it turns out I didn’t need to because The Guardian did <link>. The address leads to the offices of Sloan & Co, a small accountancy firm <link>. But this is no run of the mill account, David Sloan the owner a rock accountant whose top clients are the Wiggles! Unfortunately, Patrick Barkham reports, “Mr Sloane is not at his office and does not return my calls. All he will say is that the Order ‘is a client'”.
Maybe it’s a ruse to promote a new band, “The Templars”? Maybe it’s a new business tactic for Sloan & Co? Maybe they represent Dan Brown? Who knows? But I’d be delighted if a 12th century order reappeared in West London a few hundred metres from where I play 5-aside football under the Westway on Wednesday nights.
